On 10th June, soil was turned and construction started on the first of five community gardens being built over the coming months. The first garden (Homestead Community Garden) is being built at Roxburgh Park.
Here's something from the Hume council website:
Hume City Council has commenced designing five community gardens as part of the Healthy Hume initiative. The gardens will be ready for use by the local community in the next couple of months for growing herbs, vegetables and fruit.
So get involved in your local area. Learn hands-on gardening and grow your own fresh and organic food. The gardens can also help reduce your household waste by using communal composting systems and are fantastic places to meet other people.
