How many gardeners does it take to plant a tree? |
Over recent months there's been lots of pruning and weeding as they've begun rejuvenating the Dunstan Reserve Food Forest, a sort of hidden urban orchard, as part of a project funded by Moreland Council. This month you'll be planting a range of fruiting shrubs, herbs, edible natives, ground cover plants and tubers - the understorey of the food forest.
This will be a great chance to get to know your neighbours and make some new friends, do some planting and get a few tips about growing food, share afternoon tea and take part in a food swap. You can also find out about the community garden, check out the new fence and get a feel for the site as it's prepared for a new layout.
If the last few sessions are anything to go by, you'll get lots done, have a chat while you're at it and go home with a satisfied, tired feeling. No prior experience necessary, everyone is welcome!
Can you dig it? Well get stuck in then!
To help provide enough tea and cake, please RSVP by email to grow.eat.moreland@gmail.com or by mail to PO Box 59, Pascoe Vale South, VIC 3044.
