My Smart Garden Self-Watering Wicking Bed Workshop 20 November

Are you thinking about installing wicking beds or have wicking beds already that you're not sure how to use or maintain?

Wicking beds are a type of upside-down watering system well suited to growing veggies in Australian conditions. They use much less water and – even better – require less maintenance than conventional garden beds.

Join local edible gardening business and wicking bed experts Very Edible Gardens (VEG) in this FREE workshop which explains the science and practicalities of wicking beds, their construction and key components,  and how to grow in them for an abundance of delicious produce. The demonstration is taking place at the site of the wicking bed planters VEG has installed in the newly created Garrong Park in Brunswick, Moreland.

Date: Saturday 20 November, 2021 10.30 - 11.30am

Location: Garrong Park, 55 - 61 Tinning Street Brunswick

Cost: Free but registration essential and numbers are strictly limited to meet COVIDsafe requirements

What to bring: QR Code check-in with vaccination certificate will be required.  The workshop is being held outside so be prepared for Melbourne spring weather (rain jacket, jumper, hat etc)

No experience is necessary and residents local to Garrong Park are encouraged to participate and meet others looking forward to community gardening in the park. You may even be inspired to get into some small scale growing at home!

This My Smart Garden workshop is proudly presented by the City of Moreland. Please note that this is an event for City of Moreland / Melbourne gardeners only. Gardening is very context specific so if you live outside Melbourne, please contact your council to find out what free sustainable gardening events are available locally.
